Toronto, Ontario – CN Tower
Few landmarks define a Canadian skyline quite like Toronto's CN Tower. Completed in 1976, the tower takes its initials from Canadian National, the railway company that originally built it. For 32 years, the CN Tower held the record as the world's tallest freestanding structure and remains one of Canada's most recognizable landmarks.
About the Artwork
This vintage-inspired illustration celebrates Toronto through some of the sights that make its skyline instantly recognizable.
The CN Tower takes centre stage, shown from a familiar perspective that anyone who has spent time in the city will recognize. Surrounding it are other elements of the Toronto skyline, while the Canadian Forces Snowbirds flying overhead are a nod to the Canadian National Exhibition and its annual air show, a tradition that has marked the end of summer in Toronto for generations.
The result is a nostalgic tribute to Toronto that combines its iconic architecture with a little piece of the city's summertime history.
