Burlington, Ontario – Waterfront

Just across the bay from Hamilton, Burlington’s waterfront has an entirely different personality.

Where Hamilton Harbour is defined by industry, steel and working waterways, Burlington’s shoreline feels more like the city’s backyard: a place for walking, festivals, beaches, patios and long summer afternoons beside Lake Ontario.

That contrast became the inspiration for this vintage-style Burlington waterfront illustration.

About the Artwork

This piece was created as a companion to my Hamilton Harbour print, exploring how two neighbouring cities sharing the same stretch of water can have such completely different relationships with it.

On the Burlington side, the focus is recreation.

The shoreline stretches past the beach and into Spencer Smith Park, one of the city’s best-known gathering places and home to major events including the Sound of Music Festival and Burlington’s annual Ribfest.

Reaching out into Lake Ontario is the distinctive Brant Street Pier, its curved structure creating one of the waterfront’s most recognizable features and giving visitors a chance to walk right out over the lake.

It’s a very different scene from the factories, smokestacks and industrial activity visible across the bay in Hamilton.

And that's exactly what I love about these two pieces.

Same water. Two cities. Completely different views.

Together, the Burlington Waterfront and Hamilton Harbour illustrations tell two sides of the same story: neighbouring cities connected by geography but shaped by very different histories and personalities.

This print celebrates the lighter side of that relationship: summer by the lake, festivals in the park and one of my favourite places to spend a sunny day in Burlington.

For collectors, a limited edition of just 15 signed and individually numbered prints is available in each size.

Each limited edition is printed on premium 300–320 gsm fine art paper, made from acid-free, 100% cotton rag with a beautiful matte finish.
