Chatham, Ontario – Retro Suites

Historic on the outside and anything but ordinary on the inside, Retro Suites Hotel has become one of downtown Chatham’s most distinctive destinations.

The boutique hotel combines historic architecture with an eclectic collection of individually designed rooms, artwork, vintage furnishings and unexpected details. Rather than trying to recreate a single period, Retro Suites embraces decades of design influences and gives each space a personality of its own.

It’s colourful, nostalgic, a little quirky and definitely not your typical hotel.

About the Artwork

For this vintage-inspired illustration, I wanted to capture the personality of Retro Suites and the sense that there’s much more hiding behind its historic downtown façade.

The hotel felt like a natural subject for my style. Its combination of old architecture, retro influences, bold design choices and nostalgia fits perfectly into the visual world I love illustrating.

There’s also something fun about a place that celebrates the past without feeling trapped in it. Retro Suites borrows from different eras, mixes styles together and turns nostalgia into something playful and unexpected.

That same spirit influenced this piece.

Rather than simply documenting a building, I wanted the illustration to feel like an invitation to step inside and discover something you weren't expecting.

A little history. A lot of personality. And plenty of retro charm.

This vintage-inspired print is my tribute to one of Chatham’s most unique places and a hotel that proves looking backward can sometimes create something completely original.

Each limited edition is printed on premium 300–320 gsm fine art paper, made from acid-free, 100% cotton rag with a beautiful matte finish.
