Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum

A celebration of Canadian aviation history, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton preserves and showcases aircraft that have played a part in Canada’s military and aviation story.

Located at Hamilton International Airport, the museum is home to an impressive collection of more than 40 aircraft, from early aviation to the jet age. Visitors can get remarkably close to these historic machines and, in some cases, experience the incredible sight and sound of them taking to the skies once again.

At the heart of the collection is one of Hamilton’s most recognizable treasures: the museum’s Avro Lancaster bomber.

About the Artwork

For this vintage-inspired illustration, I wanted to capture the excitement and spectacle of aviation while paying tribute to the bold promotional artwork of the past.

The design takes its inspiration from vintage World’s Fair and travel posters, where architecture, technology and attractions were presented on an almost larger-than-life scale.

The museum’s distinctive entrance anchors the composition, with the CF-104 Starfighter mounted dramatically out front and pointing toward the sky.

Above it, two stars of the museum’s collection take flight: the B-25 Mitchell “Hot Gen” and the legendary Avro Lancaster. Rather than simply displaying the aircraft, I wanted them soaring overhead like the grand attractions they truly are.

The result is a tribute to the machines, history and sense of wonder that make the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum such a memorable place to visit.

For collectors, a limited edition of just 15 signed and individually numbered prints is available in each size.

Each limited edition is printed on premium 300–320 gsm fine art paper, made from acid-free, 100% cotton rag with a beautiful matte finish.

Limited editions include a 2" white border and are personally signed and numbered.
