Step into Snowasis, an imagined winter retreat hidden deep within a frozen landscape.

There’s something magical about winter and the way a familiar landscape can completely transform beneath layers of snow and ice. The colours disappear, the world becomes quieter, and suddenly even the most ordinary places can feel completely removed from everyday life.

Nestled within that stillness is a solitary chalet: a small, warm sanctuary surrounded by the vastness of winter.

About the Artwork

Unlike many of my vintage-inspired prints that celebrate real places and landmarks, Snowasis exists entirely in my imagination.

I’ve always been fascinated by the transformation that happens when winter takes over a landscape. Lush greens give way to snow-covered trees, frozen surfaces and long shadows, creating an environment that can feel both peaceful and beautifully isolated.

For this illustration, I wanted to play with that contrast.

Cold outside. Warm inside. Vast landscape. Small sanctuary.

The chalet sits tucked within the frozen woodland, offering a sense of warmth and shelter against the surrounding wilderness. Layers of trees, snow, ice and landscape lead your eye through the composition toward that little refuge in the distance.

I love creating interesting shapes and building illustrations through layers that gradually reveal a story. With Snowasis, that story is about escaping somewhere quiet, cozy and completely removed from everything else.

A place where the snow keeps falling, the fire stays warm and there’s nowhere else you need to be.
